In the 7 years that I spent in HKA, I found my home - the teachers, the students, and the community as a whole have been engraved into who I am as a person.
It's no secret that I was pretty engaged in the Hong Kong Academy community throughout my time as a student. HKA offered me endless academic and extracurricular opportunities which allowed me to explore who I was not only as a learner but also as a human being. Looking to the technical aspects of what a high school should do, Hong Kong Academy did more than enough to help me settle comfortably into my university academics. However, what impacted me most at my time in HKA is that they didn't push me into fitting the mold of the conventional idea of a "successful student". HKA encouraged me to make my OWN definition of success and provided me with the support I needed on the pathway that I had created MYSELF. I feel very strongly that this interpretation of how we should approach our goals has helped me stay focussed and made the transition into university life extremely easy. It was because of HKA that I felt comfortable moving on to a new place and content with what I have chosen for myself. As I continue on through university and even through the rest of my life, I hope to maintain the same, HKA attitude - to always follow my individual pathway to what I believe is my success.
