I signed up for a consulting package from Topschools to help figure out out the whole playgroup --> preschool/kindergarten --> primary school scene for my daughter. The more I tried to research it myself, the more I realized that some early decisions can open or close doors later on. For example, some playgroups/preschools give you better chances for some kindergartens/primary schools... and if a school is not your first choice, there is such a thing as applying too early. Spray and pray applications is not necessary a smart approach... but I didn't have all the information to figure out what I should be doing. After having a first meeting with my consultant (who is an experienced mom herself), I felt a lot more in control of the process. She definitely gave me info that I wouldn't have gotten researching the web and she even went above and beyond to get me a viewing of a school that doesn't do viewings. Could I have muddled through myself? Probably - but I thought it was a relatively modest price to pay to get more intelligence for a decision that will have such a big impact on my daughter next 10 years. highly recommended for moms who want to know they have a good strategy : )
