Kinder Genius Trial with Mr Alex
Jolly Kingdom is an English learning centre. There were 3 classrooms and a pretty spacious waiting area at the reception. There were some NET walking around. When we got there, we mainly saw kids aged around 5. The reception lady first gave me a form to fill in some basic information, then asked us to enter the classroom for my toddler to warm up. In there got another boy with his mom playing at the ball pit and the slide. When it was about time, the teacher came in to get the materials for the class. I could see him with a little notebook having his lesson plan written down. When he was ready, he has asked us to settle down for the class was about to start. Yes, turned out there were only two toddlers in the class, with that boy being a regular. It seemed to me he's the only regular of the session. Anyways, here is the summary of my experience: 1. Classroom The classroom was quite spacious. However, the air conditioning was a bit too cold for the kids I think but it was still acceptable. The mats of the classroom were quite old and seems they don't clean it too frequently. 2. Learning equipment/materials There was quite a lot of different equipment to be used for the class, and the condition was not too bad. 3. Booking and payment system I first left a message on their website for applying trial classes, then they'd call me back to confirm the date and time. They would not send you any reminder so please be sure you've marked down on your calendar. They accept cash to be aid on site. 4. Program As I've mentioned, the teacher has a lesson plan written down and in the one-hour session, there were so many things to be covered - songs on months, days, weather, emotions, time, alphabets and phonics and a few more that I couldn't remember. These songs were sung once. I assume when these were repeated every week, kids would remember them. However I think the class should aim at toddlers can already speak fairly because the teacher asked the toddlers to repeat the words he was teaching. 5. Teacher The teacher was planned to let the toddlers experienced go and stop, but then the boy wasn't following the instructions, the teacher couldn't carry on and ended up taking out some other materials to attract the boy. This was the time when the class got a bit in a mess as if the teacher couldn't manage and understand toddlers. Overall it was a nice experience but I think for my toddler in 16 months old it's a bit too advanced.
