Hong Kong public indoor playrooms – like the one in Ap Lei Chau - are perfect spaces for children to exert themselves in a clean, safe and sheltered from whether hazards environment.
Ap lei Chau public playroom is a free of charge indoor space where children can play and develop their physical agility. The space is quite big (140 m2) and fully equipped with soft games where children can explore their bodies’ capacities and look around the kids-friendly environment. This playroom is particularly well-equipped compare to other public playrooms. You can find long up and down waves where children love running on, a nice whale slide, a small soft free climbing hill and other soft corners where children can just hangout. I bring my two 20 months daughters to this playroom almost every Sunday mornings. The location is quite convenient insofar as you have a local market in the basement of the building and some supermarket in the neighbourhood. My children now know the rules of the place and often interact with the most of the time very friendly staff. I nevertheless had one negative experience when I had to stay out of the room and watch at my children through the window because I had forgotten my socks (to be wear in all cases inside the room). There was no flexibility at all for me to just seat in the entrance corner of the room and I had to step out. Hygiene is at the best since the room close for 10 minutes cleaning session every 50 minutes.
