Treatment of Skin Diseases in Chinese Medicine

By Dr. Csaryne Wan

Many skin diseases are related to poor human immunity function and multi-organs disorder, such as Eczema, Atopic Dermatitis, Psoriasis, Rosacea and Acne etc. We have many patients finally came to our clinic for medical treatment with very serious skin problems. Some were quite late for missing the golden opportunity of early stage treatment. Some patients even suffered from severe inflammatory symptoms, bleeding, dryness and extremely itch! Why so terrible? Very possible due to mis-handling and miss-use of medication, which can cause some side effects and sequelae, such as Hormone-dependent Dermatitis, Malnutrition, Anorexia, Insomnia, Emotional disorder etc. Sometimes can be associated with ADHD or Autism. All these can make feeding and eating medicine, or even diet on certain unhealthy food, very difficult.

Throughout the years I have established my Intergraded Treatment Program to help those patients to control the skin diseases and improve immune function especially in Respiratory system, Digestion system and emotional problems, and the therapeutic result were so amazing and impressive! I was so lucky to learn from the best “Lingnan Featured” Chinese medicine masters especially focused on “Dampness Heat” researches which are extremely good to skin disease. My own experiences came together with medical journal researches on pathology and pharmacology studies. It has shown that the proven efficacy of Chinese medicine is effective to treat many skin diseases with less side effect because some cases were totally given up by western medicine, or western medication totally doesn’t work.

In addition, Dr. Wan points out some of the common misunderstandings about Chinese medicine.

Misunderstand about Chinese Medicine

There are many rumors and misunderstandings about Chinese medicine, which includes: “Is it safety to drink Chinese medicine?”, “Any method to make taste better? Does it very difficult to boil? How to feed herbal medicine to kids or babies?”, “Can Chinese medicine handle more urgent cases like Flu, common cold or Fever?”

First, we will only choose the reliable suppliers and Chinese medicine materials from qualified National Approved Green-Label with high safety standard in Pesticide residue, Heavy metals, Mycotoxins and Sulphate. By accurate diagnosis and prescription after consultation, safe and good quality of drugs are essential weapons to conquer the enemy and restore good health.

Secondly, I will choose some herbal medical not too bitter and suitable for kids in my prescription. I have rich experiences to treat children and babies. We have a set of directions and suggestions to parents and helper to prepare and feed the herbal tea successfully. We also will give a list for choosing the suitable food by Chinese medicine theory for parents as guidance to avoid food allergy.

Thirdly, our patients all know that our Chinese medicine can handle common cold, flu, fever and rashes in a very satisfying process, which we identify the problem and give total solutions, but not only for symptoms. It’s very fast and effective to cure the disease for the whole case.

Normally if patients can follow our medical treatment procedures and suggestions on food choice and right living style, skin diseases can me obviously improved. But preventive measures are still encouraged to avoid future relapse, especially for poor immune system.

Finally, Chinese medicine not only focus on the therapeutic result, but do less harmful effect on human body and can improve our digestion system especially on Spleen and Stomach, which is closely related to skin diseases.

More About Chinese Medicine

Chinese medicine has more than 5000 years history and documented evidences to solve health problems in chinse history, from experiences to survive then evolved gradually as a complete system of Natural Medical Philosophy. To copy with series of human health problems in treatment, prevention and health maintenance, it then became the unique and most historical medical and health management model that still flourishes and applied by Chinese and many people.

With the most indicative manifestos of “The Yellow Emperor’s Internal Classic” , Treatise on Febrile Disease”, “Synopsis of Golden Chamber” and “The Compendium of Metria Medica” etc., they clearly documented with all the wisdoms and experiences in threating different kinds of diseases, and evidenced the efficacy with the application of Chinese medicine associated by numerous proven records.

The characteristics of Chinese medicine in diagnose and treatment of human disease, are completely different from the western medicine (i.e. modern medicine). According to my personal point of views, these can be summarized as follows:

  • Personalized & Precisive treatment
  • Wholistic treatment
  • Combination of Four-Diagnosis methods
  • Syndrome Differentiation of Eight Principles

Advantages of using Chinese medicine to treatment of diseases are:

  • Complete analysis on symptoms and treatment which are more accurate;
  • “Cause and effect” treatment and medication from inside-out;
  • Root-analysis on diseases by in-depth examination;
  • Wholistic and complete treatment as Integrated Treatment Program;
  • Emphasis on Preventive measurers
  • Early stage diagnosis and treatment for better result;
  • Personalized & Precisive treatment to maximize efficacy and minimize drug-resistance;
  • Less side-effect(by targeting at certain organs, all natural raw materials and lower Recurrence rate etc.)
  • Preventive medical approach with emphasis on health maintenance by living style and choice on food.
