Whizpa.com’s database consists of both international and local, private and government funded Kindergartens, Primary Schools, Secondary Schools and Post-Secondary Schools/Universities covering all 18 districts in Hong Kong. Finding the right school for children can be a daunting task. Popular schools typically have waiting lists and a number of private schools require parents to buy debentures for their kids once they are accepted. With so many options available out there, each school is different in curriculum and missions. Curriculums for pre-nursery, nursery and kindergartens include Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Dalton and Waldorf/Steiner education. For private primary and secondary international schools, the common curriculums include International Baccalaureate (IB), British, American, Australian, French, German and others. Local government aided schools in Hong Kong have their own structured curriculum in line with the Education Bureau guidelines and Cantonese is usually the main medium of instruction. Mandarin is now beginning to be used in secondary schools to cater to the needs for students to be able to work and live in China in the future.
